ALL ABOUT The 20 Angolan Kwanzas coin

TWENTY ANGOLAN KWANZAS

Coin's year- 1978
Country- Angola
Year of mintage- 1978

Hi friends. I know that I'm posting after a long time. Sorry for not being regular. This is my  20 Angolan Kwanzas coin. I got this coin about 6 months ago from my neighbor. This coin is one the first coins of the Angolan Kwanza currency. Angola got independence from the Portuguese on 11th November 1975. Soon after independence Kwanza was introduced. The name Kwanza derives its name from the river Kwanza. Like my other coins in my collection this coin has also got some historical importance. This coin reminds me about the civil war in Angola. Lets come to the specs. This coin is copper-nickel coin is circular and has a diameter of 29.1mm. The thickness is about 1.9mm and the edge is reeded.  The coin weighs about 10 g. The obverse side of this coin has the national arms and the lettering which states the date of independence and the name of the country. The reverse side has its facial value and the lettering-'KWANZAS' and the coin's year- 1978. The reverse side also has dots near the rim. The mintage of this coin is not known. It is known that this coin has been demonetized but the exact date is not known. Thank you for reading my blog. Subscribe for email updates and follow me on blogger.
