20 Vietnamese Su
TWENTY VIETNAMESE SU Coin's year-1953 Country- South Vietnam Year of mintage- 1953 Hi friends. This my 20 Su coin from Vietnam. Like the Deutsche mark coin this coin has also got some historical importance. This coin was one of the first coins of the South Vietnamese Dong. 1 Dong was subdivided into 100 Su. The mintage of 10 Su, 20 Su and 50 Su coins started in 1953. Till 1955 dual currency system was practiced in South Vietnam. Both French Indochinese Piastre and Dong were used till 1955. The Dong was used in parts of Vietnam which was not under the control of communist forces till 1954. From 1955 the Dong became the official currency of South Vietnam, which was created after the partition of the state of Vietnam. This coin was used till 1975. In 1975 South Vietnam was defeated by North Vietnam and a new currency was introduced. The new currency was Liberation Dong. 1 Liberation Dong was equal to 500 South Vietnamese Dong.
