Hi friends, this is my Australian 50 cents coin. This coin was released in the year 2005 to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the end of the world war II. This dodecagonal (12 sides) coin really huge with a diameter of 31.5 mm. The thickness is 2.55mm. This coin is quite heavy with a weight of 15.55g. I love this coin as it has a very beautiful design. The obverse side has the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II facing the right side. The reverse side has soldiers and a military cemetery scene and has the lettering- World War 1939-1945 Remembrance on the top and Fifty cents on the bottom. This coin reminds me of the darkest days of humanity. The casualties, bloodshed, screams, children getting orphaned, women getting widowed during the war symbolizes how greedy we fellow beings are. When I got this coin in my 5th grade from my friend I didn't know the importance of this coin. Now I realize how important this coin is. This coin reminds us to be peaceful and caring towards all fellow humans. The mintage of this coin was 11,033,000 in the year 2005. I think this coin is one of my most important coins in my collection. I still remember the day I got this coin. Those days, I used to have tons of Arab coins . I exchanged an Arab coin for this coin with my friend. THANK YOU for reading my blog and thank you for giving me your support. Please do subscribe to my blog to get e-mail notifications.
